A traditional Yorkhire Dales pub with accommodation, serving locally sourced food in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales village of Barningham. The pub is an historic institution which has served the local community for at least 325 years. Recently renovated we offer guests boutique standard accommodation in one of our 6 individually designed bedrooms or self contained holiday cottages.
Choose from a number of places to enjoy food and drink during your visit at The Milbank Arms. Take in the welcoming local atmosphere in the main bar or enjoy a cosy warming drink around the open log fire.
Further seating is available in the The traditionally named Tap Room or enjoy a more private dining experience in our Dining Room.
Downstairs, we have the characterful, cosy Cellar Bar where our old miniature spirit bottle collection is displayed. Why not relish a cocktail or two in here?

Ranked as one of the `poshest villages in the UK` according to The Times – reserve your stay with the Milbank Arms – Winter Special Deal !
Barningham, near Darlington, Co Durham
In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, the tiny conservation village is listed in the Domesday Book under the ownership of a Saxon lord, Thor. Today it’s owned by a dashing baronet and his well-connected wife, Sir Edward and Lady Natalie Milbank, who live at the local stately home, Barningham Park, and whose family have owned the surrounding 7,000-acre Barningham and Holgate Estate since 1690. They’ve recently renovated the village pub, the Milbank Arms, turning it into a local gastro spot with six chic bedrooms and three cute cottages. Or you can bed down on the estate’s Helwith Cottage on the edge of the moor, which featured in All Creatures Great and Small.
